This project is to test design and construction aspects from the Steam Trike project, specifically from the ICE Cylinder Liners as Cylinder and Cylinder Valve design. The resulting cylinder doesn't do much on its own, but could be used as part of a hand water pump or as the air cylinder in a steam powered air compressor.
Is the inside surface of an off-the-shelf semi-finished cylinder liner concentric, straight, and uniform enough to use as a cylinder or cylinder valve without boring? Honing can be used to smooth the interior finish.
Can the cylinder liner be machined to length with available tools (cutoff saws, lathe, mill)?
Can I successfully braze the cast iron liner to other cast iron parts with available tools (oxy-acetylene torch) and little previous experience?
Does the PTFE double piston cup seal design work?
